Longworth & District History Society
actively exploring the history of our parishes

Our archives and our website.

An Ever-Growing Archive.

Along with gathering together a large number of photographs, postcards, house deeds, wills, maps, old receipts, programmes, newspaper cuttings, stories and other memorabilia which can be used for displays at our Open Days, for talks, for 'The Rose' journal and other village events, we are also always adding material to our website.

We have now catalogued part of our large archive collection and this is available as a print-out for members from meetings or by post from Kathy Fletcher in return for a stamped and self addressed A4 envelope.

Please contact Kathy, in both cases stating your Subject of interest as the catalogue is over 40 pages long.

If you have anything that you would like to share with us, please contact
so that we can make arrangements to borrow and copy these and return them to you very quickly.

Our Photographic Archive

Our photographic archive is amazing in what we hold and with the help of society members many people have been named in group photographs, where they would have remained nameless faces. We appreciate your help in your kind additions to this tremendous and valuable archive.

Our photographic archive and our large and impressive Oral histories and documents are thanks to the very many people who have contributed to this. These will be a lasting testament to the history of our village and will be of interest to historians now and in the future.

Our website

We try to tell you the reader what projects we are working on and try to keep you informed with our programme.

We have many photographs of events on our sites, but will always appreciate more. Please do consider letting us copy your photographs, newspaper cuttings, old birth marriage and death certificates, deeds or anything that you think would be of interest to the society and you would like to have 'backed-up' safely with us. Great care will be taken of anything we can borrow from you for a day or so and you will be helping all our members in their history projects.
